Polka Dot Matrix | Eclipse Edition
Last week’s eclipse-inspired show features a galaxy of global sounds, encompassing Mexican conjunto, African tropical house, apocalyptic American gospel pop, a Teutonic torch song from Germany’s electro-chanteuse Gudrun Gut, purple soul from Minneapolis, smooth jazz from the homeland of Poland, before bringing it back home with some OG-funk from Portland, Oregon.
Part 1 winds down with two songs co-written by Donald Hepburn (RIP), a founding member of Pleasure who recently passed away. This week was also the birthday of another Pleasure member, Bruce Smith. Happy birthday, Bruce!
It is also my pleasure to share the mic this week with Manuel Oregon Corona, the romantic voice of el Beat 98.5 FM, broadcasting in Zihuatanejo, Guerrero, Mexico.
